HEY, IT'S EMILY

This wedding blog is filled with a couple of small-world moments and stories, the first of which is how we met them! We actually met David & Crystal at a wedding we photographed last year. We sat next to them for dinner, and enjoyed getting to know the two of them immensely. They obviously were able to see how John and I worked together in a real-time way! 🙂 After chatting with them after the wedding, they booked us as their wedding photographers!

David & Crystal are people with huge hearts and great personalities. They genuinely love being together. Their first date was August 19th 2014 at a Starbucks. They were supposed to meet up around 2:30, but Crystal was late so it ended up being around 3. Would you believe that they closed the coffee shop down that night?! I mean, these two had so much to say to each other on their first date that they stayed until closing time. David remembers getting lost in her eyes and knowing that this was something spectacular. Fast forward a couple of years to Crystal’s family vacation to Disney World. David knew he was going to propose, and all of Crystal’s family was in on it too. Her favorite place in Disney is Cinderella’s castle. (Crystal told her mom a couple months earlier how great it would be if David proposed to her in front of Cinderella’s castle, but she knew he wouldn’t do it.) Well, David did! He proposed right in front of Cinderella’s castle; and of course she said yes!

So these two got married exactly three years after their first date on August 19th. The love, time, energy, and beauty that was put into their wedding was wonderful. They had so many people attend their traditional Armenian wedding ceremony that the church was MORE full that they had ever seen! (It was even tricky to get around as the photographers!) 🙂 Family is so important to these two, and we could tell that right away by the thought that went into the gifts they each gave their parents (and in-laws). For a moment, we weren’t sure if their venue would be available on their wedding date. At one point during the crazy flooding this spring, the bottom level was filled with 10-12 feet of water. Thankfully it worked out for them; and they made the hall absolutely beautiful with all of their handmade decor. Crystal’s mom arranged all of the centerpieces for each table (among many other things that she did to coordinate the day). It was beautiful. It was so great to see the Armenian traditions celebrated during David & Crystal’s wedding as well, which included fabulous Armenian dancers!

This brings me to the second small-world story that’s a part of David & Crystal’s wedding day. As some of you know, John and I have been in the process of adding a videographer to our team. My brother, Garret, has been building up a portfolio to start offering videography to our clients. When Crystal and her bridesmaids were out celebrating her bachelorette party, they randomly met another bachelor party and ended up hanging out most of the night together. At the end of the night, Crystal was chatting with one of these guys from the bachelor party only to find out that he was my brother (!) who was going to be working with us to offer videography! So Garret was able to come along with us on this wedding day to capture beautiful footage of David & Crystal’s wedding day.

Here are a few of our favorites from their wedding day!
