Shannon & Kurt

Rainy Milwaukee Wedding

Shannon & Kurt had an extraordinary Rainy Milwaukee wedding. Although rain isn’t ever on the top of anyone’s wedding day list, these two not only met the challenge of rain on their wedding day but fully embraced it. For two adventurous souls who love the outdoors, camping, and hiking, their rainy Milwaukee wedding day was just one more adventure. A week or so before the wedding, after we had finalized most of our timeline details, Shannon sent the best email a photographer could ask for. She let us know that she was going to embrace the weather with matching umbrellas for her bridal party and bright red rain boots!

For this and many other reasons, we absolutely love Shannon & Kurt. They met at UW-LaCrosse (where John and I met too!), and the moment they met both of them experienced love at first sight. It was actually Shannon who asked Kurt out first, something we learned from Shannon’s sister during her speech on their wedding day. Shannon and Kurt were “studying” in the library when Shannon slid an old-fashioned, hand-written note to Kurt asking him on a date. He said yes, and their grand adventure began. 🙂 Their relationship adventures have taken them to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Germany, Colorado, and other adventures around the great city of Milwaukee! So what might have been a great disappointment to some became the most memorable part of their wedding: the adventure of rain on their wedding day!

We started Shannon & Kurt’s wedding day at their home where the girls were finishing up. With her adorable red heels and fun red rain boots, Shannon was a vision. 🙂 She & Kurt read their letters under umbrella’s in the pouring rain, and saw each other for the first time in their own back yard. With a ceremony at their church a couple blocks away, it wasn’t long until things became official!! After the ceremony, this amazing (and also adventurous) wedding party made their way to downtown Milwaukee for pictures. We were even able to get a rooftop location thanks to Kurt’s work! The rainy fog over the Milwaukee skyline was my favorite part about the Lakeshore State Park pictures – amazing! 🙂

Shannon & Kurt’s reception was celebrated at The Filament, where friends & family enjoyed an amazing meal and even better company. Shannon’s dad personally cut all of the wood pieces used as decor on the tables and around the venue; and Kurt and his mom had a choreographed dance as a surprise for their guests! After the dancing (and the always fabulous shoe game), we stepped outside with Shannon & Kurt for those last few night shots. From start to finish, their beautiful but rainy Milwaukee wedding was fabulous. Their adventure as husband and wife began in a very memorable way, and looking at these pictures, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Enjoy these favorites from Shannon & Kurt’s adventurous and beautiful and rainy Milwaukee wedding day!
