HEY, IT'S EMILY

Jessica and Tyler, in this incredibly romantic Third Ward engagement session, are adorable in every way. Their story is JUST as adorable as they are! I usually try to sum things up in my own words, but for Jess & Tyler’s story, it’s going to be best if you hear it directly from them!

How They Met

Tyler: “It was Saturday September 19, 2015. I was out celebrating my birthday (which was 2 days later) with my buddy Nick and his parents Karen and Randy. We all went to Country in the City, which was at Cathedral Square Park. After several adult sodas, a random woman popped into our group and asked, ‘Hey, do you work for GE?’ Karen and I stared at each other perplexed, then said, ‘Yes, we both work there…?’ This woman was clearly shocked at the fact that we said yes. A few minutes into an awkward conversation, she said, ‘OK, well you gotta meet my daughter.’ Psh…OK, sure. Twice more during the night, I ran into this woman and had some very friendly conversations, each concluding with, ‘You gotta meet my daughter.’ The final time I ran into this woman, she made finally introduced me to her daughter. ‘Jessica, this is Tyler, he went to Marquette. Bye!’ We struck up a conversation, got closer to the music, listened to Kelsea Ballerini sing ‘Dibs’, exchanged numbers, and 3 days later we went on our first date. I knew the moment I saw her beautiful smile that I liked her. I knew after 3 hours of conversation I wanted to marry her. My Uber driver heard all about my future wife on the way to meet back up with Nick, who ditched me when he couldn’t find me. Then he also had to hear about my future wife over a celebratory beer. Tami [Jessica’s mom] is a very important and crucial part of the story, and our lives. Nick is now our best man.”

The Proposal

Jessica: “I was told to look nice for our surprise date on December 3rd and to be ready by 3:45 pm. He being the gracious guy who knows me quite well, left an additional 15 minute buffer for me. We left the apartment at 4pm, got in his car, and before we pulled off he reaches into his glove compartment and reaches for an envelope. He reads the card inside and it says all the first memories we’ve had at the apartment. Like the time he was suppose to cook for me but accidentally cut his finger and I had to take over the cooking! Next he told me to go into his GPS and hit spot #2. We then rode to the next destination, Cooper’s Hawk. I was thinking we were getting dinner here so I am all pointing out parking spots, and he said “what makes you think we’re stopping here?” He then pulls out another envelope and reads the card with the date, location, and memories from our first Copper’s Hawk dinner we had together. The theme continues where we drive all around to the early date spots we had been on in Brookfield, Tosa, Downtown, etc. To this day some of our favorite spots. Loaf and Jug, Bel Air, Leff’s, Ray’s, Marquette, Sail Lofts, and of course where we met at Cathedral Square. Each stop had a thoughtful note of the day, the date, the memories, and how he was feeling about us at the time. It was so sweet to hear his strong feelings about us, even in the beginning. Through out all this I started to get suspicious, but it was until we got to Cathedral Square that I knew this wasn’t just a date night. Once we stepped out of the car and he began reading cards about the times we had gone to Jazz in the Park here, when we came back here for our one year anniversary, and of course the day we met. I completely lost it, I knew where he was going with this. The park was beautiful lite for the holidays, with a giant Christmas tree that we stopped under. He grabbed his last few cards and read them voice getting shakier and shakier. He spoke of the night we met and how he knew right then and there that I was the one for him, that we were going to get married. Much like the country music song we heard when we met, he called “Dibs” and asked me to marry him.”

They’re calling DIBS! 🙂 For the rest of their lives. Love these two, their story, and their contagious joy when they’re together. We can’t wait to celebrate their wedding.
