Myrra & Aaron | Villa Terrace Wedding

To say that we have been so, SO excited to photograph Myrra & Aaron’s Villa Terrace Wedding is a huge understatement. This wedding has been in our hearts for some time. First off, this is our first wedding at the stunning Villa Terrace in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! It’s been on our bucket list to photograph here since we began shooting weddings. The other reason we’ve been waiting for this wedding is simply: Myrra & Aaron! There is something so genuine about the two of them, individually and together, that is welcoming. I know their friends and family can easily attest to that. We simply couldn’t wait to document the day they said, “I do!” This was the third of our three-wedding weekend on this particular weekend, and we could not imagine a better way to end any weekend than this wedding with these people.

I wrote about Myrra & Aaron’s relationship in their engagement session blog, but it is certainly worth repeating their story here:

Myrra and Aaron initially met at work. They would see each other passing through the halls and often converse about common workplace subjects. It wasn’t until Myrra asked him to join her for a group outing to a trivia night that things started moving in a different direction. Because Aaron couldn’t join for that specific outing, he made a point to find another date that would work. They laugh about it now, but Aaron thought Myrra was asking him out on a date; and she thought she was just asking him to join a group outing. But Myrra admits that she took longer than normal to decide what to wear, and they now agree that this qualified as their “first date,” ? The night was filled with laughter and conversation, and signs of great things to come.

Fast forward a few years and lots of adventures later, and Aaron and Myrra found themselves in New York City to visit family. While wandering through Central Park and past a man playing an accordion, Aaron waited for a quiet place and the right moment. The sun peeked through the clouds, making this seem like the warmest spot in the city; and there Aaron asked Myrra to marry him. She, of course, said yes! ?

I love asking our couples how they knew that their soon-to-be-spouse was “the one,” and I love that every answer is different because everyone experiences love in different ways. For Myrra, she had sweet moments where she would almost literally feel herself falling – falling more and more in love with the man who knew just what to say or do to make her feel loved, admired, and cared for. Aaron was taken by Myrra’s spontaneity and adventurous spirit from the beginning, and as they continued their journey together, things just became more and more clear that she was the one for him. One of my favorite parts of Aaron’s answer is this: “We have worked hard to allow each other to be ourselves while also enjoying the WE of our relationship.” I love that statement so much; and you can completely see this when you see these two together.

Myrra & Aaron’s wedding day began and ended at the historic Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum on Milwaukee’s lakefront. Myrra wore her mother’s wedding shoes and her grandmother’s lace on her garter. The sixpence in the shoe was present to complete the full rhyme: “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe.” 🙂 They had hops (grown from their own garden) incorporated into the already stunning boutonnieres and the floral arrangements from Feisty Flowers. Aaron’s son and daughter stood next to him as the best-son and best-daughter (in place of the traditional best man), and Aaron’s brother was the officiant for their ceremony. Myrra’s mother wrote a poem specifically for the occasion, reading it during the ceremony; and both Aaron & Myrra included special readings before they said their heartfelt, handwritten vows. I feel that I could go on and on about how many special moments were included in their day (and likely I could)! 🙂

Myrra & Aaron had a first look before the ceremony, took some photos with their lovely wedding party in the gardens of the Villa Terrace; and then trekked back up those stairs for family formals and the ceremony. Following the ceremony, they had delicious foods staggered throughout the evening, forgoing the traditional seated dinner. This was a lovely time of lively conversation and exploration of the amazing venue. Right before dusk, we captured a few sundown pictures in front of the Villa Terrace; and following that, we witnessed some lovely toasts & speeches from Myrra & Aaron’s family and friends. I love hearing speeches (and always try not to cry). 🙂 The speeches were filled with love and admiration for Myrra and Aaron, each person making a tribute to the caring, loving, genuine individuals they both are. The remainder of the night was spent dancing and mingling, and their wedding day was simply perfect!

Here are our favorites from Myrra & Aaron’s Villa Terrace wedding!
