HEY, IT'S EMILY

Kim & Ken | Golden Mast Inn Wedding

We are so excited to be sharing Kim & Ken’s Delafield Wisconsin wedding on the blog today! These two people are so kind and joyful. If you don’t already know that about them, you’ll see that quickly as you browse through these images. They are officially our “together the longest” couple, as they’ve known each other since high school (17 years) and have been together for 14 of those years! Kim & Ken met in study hall with the help of alphabetical order. After being best friends for a few years, Kim got up the courage to ask Ken to the Sadie Hawkin’s dance, which was their first official date. After the dance, Ken told Kim he loved her; and the rest is history!

They most recently were living in California where Kim was finishing her Ph.D. in Spanish linguistics and where Ken is a structural engineer (if you have earthquake questions, Ken is the man to see). They match each other in wit, kindness, intelligence, success, and genuine care for others. In fact, they managed to move across the country (from California back to Wisconsin) a week or so before their wedding and STILL smile all day long!! 🙂

Their wedding day was an absolutely joyous occasion. We began at Ken’s mom’s house in Delafield where he finished getting ready, and then we headed over to The Delafield Hotel to get some pictures of Kim’s final preparations for the day. We loved the way they both smiled and enjoyed the moments leading up to seeing each other. Kim & Ken chose to see each other before their ceremony at the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel on St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy campus right in downtown Delafield. (This place is a hidden treasure!) Once they saw each other for the first time, it seemed like the day started moving in slow motion, allowing them the time they needed to take in the moments and enjoy every little piece of their day.

After their beautiful ceremony, the wedding party began a boat ride to The Golden Mast. The weather was absolutely perfect for them! The Golden Mast was decorated with Kim & Ken’s wine theme, and we loved the little touches they had throughout the reception. With family & friends celebrating alongside them, they enjoyed a great dinner and some energetic dancing. We were able to capture a few more pictures of Kim & Ken alone right at sunset (which we LOVE to do), and we soaked up all the last rays of sunlight! The speeches that followed from Ken’s brothers and Kim’s sisters were touching and beautiful. Ken’s brother summed up his character by saying, “He just gets life.” And we could see that was true for both Kim & Ken. They have a calm, steady, joyful demeanor about them both. They’ve learned to do life together, and to do it well! (Not to mention they can jump impressively high) 😉 <– see the last pictures for proof!

Kim & Ken, it was such a joy for us to serve you on your wedding day! We hope you love the little preview from your Delafield Wisconsin wedding!! 🙂
