HEY, IT'S EMILY

Samantha & Nathan

Spring Wedding at Geneva National

Samantha & Nathan’s wedding day was eight years in the making. It was eight years of their beautiful and perfect story. Their spring wedding at Geneva National was sincere and beautiful from start to finish. With spring in the air and temperatures in the 60’s, it was a beautiful April day. Friends and family gathered for an intimate (and very energetic) celebration of their story.

Samantha & Nathan met at a bar where she bar tended and he would often come to watch games and hang out with friends. (They incorporated this in a very unique way in the ceremony, so watch for that below!) They talked lots when Nathan would come in, and they finally arranged a first date. Samantha was working tons of hours managing a bar and student teaching, so their first date ended up being a hang out at her apartment. He brought over her favorite beer, her favorite cheesecake, and four frozen pizzas. That’s my favorite kind of romance – true, casual, and real. 🙂

After years of being together, moving across the country and then back again, and having their sweet son, Baylen, Nathan proposed to Samantha. It happened during their first trip back to Arizona, where they lived for a time. Nathan wanted to take Samantha hiking. Both of them are extremely fit individuals. Nathan runs marathons, and Samantha is super fit as well. So it was surprising to her when she found him completely out of breath during their hike:

“Nathan was all out of breath, huffing and puffing, eating a banana, Gatorade etc. I thought to myself, ‘I know I work out a lot and cross train, but you run marathons like its no big deal…  why are you so out of breath?”

It turns out it was the nerves. 😉 Nathan was trying to find a good location to pop the question:

“We finally reached our last stop, and I searched frantically to find someone to take the photo of me proposing. I found a nice lady and asked if she could take our picture overlooking Scottsdale (without her knowing that I was going to propose). After the 2nd picture I said, ‘Hold on, one more picture please.’ And at that point I pulled the ring out and proposed hoping she was still ready to snap the picture. Luckily she did!”

And that’s how they came to their wedding day. <3

These two are hilarious. They love to laugh and have a great time, and they know how to throw a party. We found ourselves smiling and laughing literally all day long. Their sense of humor (and mutual love for The Office) has carried them through their relationship. We have no doubt that it will continue to serve them well in marriage.

Their wedding day started at The Inns at Geneva National. The set up at The Inns allowed the ladies to stay upstairs while the guys were downstairs, which was perfect! We were able to pop back and forth from guys to girls while everybody was getting ready. We loved all of the details they incorporated into their day: Nathan and Baylen getting ready, Nathan giving his groomsmen fancy shoes from his company, and Samantha’s wedding day details. She included pictures of her late grandfather and aunt on her bouquet as a memorial to them. She also wore a beautiful green ring which belonged to her late aunt.

The ceremony was officiated by Nathan’s brother-in-law, who did a fantastic job. Nathan and Samantha wrote their own vows, and Nathan even included quotes from one of their favorite episodes of The Office in his! At the end of the ceremony Samantha, Nathan, and their bridal party did a celebratory shot to commemorate the way they met. (No worries, Baylen’s was water!) 😉 Following the ceremony, we took some lovely pictures and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Samantha and Nathan had an epic cake cutting. (And, yes, they smashed cake on each others’ faces.) Then the party truly began. They brought in a band who definitely knew how to get the party going, and it made for a memorable night.

In conclusion, we simply love the way Samantha & Nathan laugh together. He knows how to make her smile. And we loved seeing both of their personalities shine through their son, Baylen. His joy and excitement during his parents’ wedding day was so much fun! Here are some of our favorites from Samantha & Nathan’s spring wedding at Geneva National – Enjoy!
