Sara & Kutluay

The Madison Club Wisconsin Wedding

This wedding day at the lovely Madison Club was filled with smiles and laughter. With families coming together from across the globe, there was no shortage of joy and celebration. Sara and Kutluay are the kind of people and the kind of couple that brings out the biggest celebration in friends and families. From the quiet getting ready moments to the energetic dancing at the end of the night, every moment had us smiling and celebrating right alongside this lovely couple.

Sara & Kutluay met at UW-Madison when they were both in their respective medical programs. Sara is a pharmacist, and Kutluay is a neurosurgeon. Kutluay and Sara joked around with us that he would place bad pharmacy orders just to be able to talk to Sara. Neither of them was planning to fall in love, but it happened. And these two are such a pair! Their love and devotion for each other are inspiring! (We also had a pretty neat personal discovery during Sara & Kutluay’s wedding, so stay tuned for a note from John at the end of this post!)

Kutluay is originally from Turkey, so it was amazing to see that his closest friends and family traveled across the world to witness his marriage to Sara. Their whole wedding day was celebrated at The Madison Club. When it was time for the two of them to have their first look, John found an adorable secret-garden-inspired space. It was such a dreamy backdrop for their first moments seeing each other on the wedding day. Afterward, we took a walk to the Capitol for some bridal party photos (and this group was SO much fun). Following that, we headed back to The Madison Club for a gorgeous sun-lit ceremony.

Sara and Kutluay have a dog named Blue, but he had to stay home in Portland where Sara and Kutluay currently live. So Sara surprised Kutluay with a custom pillow of Blue (in a bow tie!) for a wedding day gift! This version of Blue made his rounds all day long. It was such a great way for them to keep Blue in the wedding day memories, even though he couldn’t be there! (See how many times you can spot him in the photos!)

Looking back over these photos, we’re filled with such joy at the sight of Sara and Kutluay together. It’s hard to place into words what a beautiful couple they make. Their love is a beautiful thing to witness. Enjoy these favorites from Sara and Kutluay’s wedding at The Madison Club. (Scroll to the bottom to see a note from John!)

Note from John: As I was setting up Kutluay for his first look moments with Sara, I asked him what area of the medical field he practiced. When I found out he was a neurosurgeon, I thanked him for the work that he does because a neurosurgeon saved my Dad’s life when he had a sudden brain aneurysm over 15 years ago. Kutluay asked the name of the surgeon. I told him that although I had never personally met him, I will never forget his name: Dr. Dempsey from UW-Hospital. Kutluay proceeded to tell me that he studied under Dr. Dempsey during his time at UW-Madison and that Dr. Dempsey would be attending the wedding that evening! It was an emotional moment for me, and several times throughout the day I had goosebumps thinking about how my dad now has nearly 20 grandchildren that he has been able to welcome into the world since his life-saving surgery. I was able to meet Dr. Dempsey and his wife at the wedding and thank him for all the extra years and memories that his work allowed my dad to have. A special thank you to both Sara and Kutluay (and all of you hard workers in the medical fields) for the amazing work that you do. I’m sure there are many of your own patients’ families that have similar stories as myself.

We probably should’ve taken this photo with our real camera… but alas, it’s an iPhone picture. 😉
