Alizabeth & Michael | Backyard Wedding

Oh, there is so much to gush about with Alizabeth & Mike’s Wisconsin backyard wedding. Their wedding was hosted at an old family property of the Wagner’s, and this was only the start of the many meaningful aspects of their wedding. The ladies got ready for the big day at a quaint VRBO cabin close to the reception site. Alizabeth had some of the most delicate details, including a veil of her grandmother’s (which her other grandmother fixed up and made new again). Alizabeth is the oldest of eight siblings, seven of which are girls, so there was no shortage of joy and delight as she was getting ready. When her bridesmaids saw her for the first time, it marked one of the most epic reactions I’ve had the privilege of photographing to date. With her bright, joy-filled personality, it’s no surprise that these ladies adore Alizabeth.

The men finished getting ready at Mike’s dad’s house, and then they hopped onto the infamous “Jolly Green Giant,” a renovated school bus that Alizabeth’s Grandfather fixed up for vacations with the kiddos years and years ago. Using the Jolly Green Giant was a fun way to remember Alizabeth’s grandfather and a fun way for the wedding party to move from place to place! 🙂 The land on which Alizabeth & Mike had their first look (and reception) was in Mike’s dad’s family for generations. It was the original Wagner homestead. It is a stunning place with hills & valleys – the perfect location to have a picturesque wedding celebration. Mike & Alizabeth had their first look on the ridge before heading to the church to get officially married! 🙂

Following the ceremony, we stopped to see Daisy, Mike & Al’s little pup (who is SO adorable)! She was full of energy and joy just like her parents! Then we headed back to the GORGEOUS reception site. This area was filled with so many evidences of love. Alizabeth’s dad made every single (beautiful) table that graced the lawn. Mike’s mom grew the flowers. The dance floor was made by Alizabeth’s dad, they hung lights to decorate the evening, and the food was lovingly made by family friends. The list of love went on and on, and it all made for an incredibly memorable day for Alizabeth & Mike and their guests.

One of our favorite stories of the day had to do with the toasting wine that Alizabeth & Mike opened on their wedding day. On one of Alizabeth & Mike’s first dates, Mike made dinner for Alizabeth and broke out a bottle (one of two bottles) of homemade wine. The date ended up going so well that Mike announced that he was going to save the second bottle for their wedding day. This bottle had since been through six years of waiting (and five moves across four cities). It goes without saying that they were excited to open it in celebration on their wedding day!

From beginning to end, their day was filled with little stories like the ones above – meaningful history that made for beautiful memories. Alizabeth & Mike’s Wisconsin backyard wedding was quite the celebration. We are so thankful to have had experienced it. Enjoy these favorites (there are SO many gorgeous ones) from their perfect day!
