It was one of the hottest, stickiest, most humid days of the summer when friends and family gathered for Jackie and Jake’s Noble Victory Memorial Chapel wedding. With weather like that, one might think the smiles would be dimmed, but nothing could stop the laughter, happy tears, and bursts of joy that continued all day long for Jake & Jackie. We started the day with Emily at Jackie’s parent’s house, where the ladies were getting ready and John at the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel where the gentlemen were getting ready. We love all the charm and history at both places: Jackie’s parent’s house was a beautiful place for the ladies to get ready, with lots of emotion and plenty of memories flooding every room; and the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy has it’s own deep history and charm that spans decades.

John and I both walked away from this wedding with smiles, having witnessed firsthand the genuine character and true kindness that Jackie and Jake have not only for one another but also for all of their friends and family who celebrated with them. They know how to love well and have a great time, adding a sense of humor to flavor each moment. This served them well when it began to rain – no, pour – in the middle of our portrait time. It didn’t phase them. They were joyful through it all, and we captured some stunning rain images as a result.

Jackie and Jake are the kind of people who light up a room. They undoubtedly will continue to do this for each other as they embark on this journey of marriage. Joy, humor, and intentional care for those around them are the characteristics that set these two apart. We were honored to witness their love and document it through these images~
